Casting call: Spotlight on....Women Over 30

We’ve introduced the rappers; now on to the second group of people we’re hoping will audition for our production of In The Heights! As much as this show is a singing and dancing extravaganza, not all the characters are in their 20s, and not all need to dance!

ABUELA CLAUDIA – Playing age: 60s

Raised Usnavi since his parents passed away and continues to live with him. Has been in the Heights the longest and is the clear matriarch of the neighbourhood.

Abuela is the heart and soul of Washington Heights, and we are looking for a strong actress and singer. This clip tells her story of her move from Cuba to New York.

CAMILIA ROSARIO – Playing age: 40s

Co-owns Rosario Car and Limousine with husband Kevin. Cool-headed and not afraid to stand up to her husband. She is the glue of the family, and definitely knows how to stop a fight!

DANIELA – Playing age: 30s

Owner of the hair salon. Savvy, quick-witted and outspoken, she is the gossip queen of the neighbourhood. Boss of Vanessa and Carla, she is a spiky comedic character, but with a soft spot for her girls.

Our FREE workshop is on 29th August, at Dance Glasgow, Ruthven Lane. Do come along and mingle with the potential residents of Washington Heights, have a sing, a dance (if you want to!) and, most importantly, have latino-infused fun!
